Vehicle Inspections

Before selling, trading or otherwise transferring ownership of a vehicle in Victoria, it must first undergo a roadworthy inspection at the hands of a VicRoads Licensed Vehicle Tester to ensure it can meet the challenges of Victoria’s roads.

We can conduct roadworthy inspections on all light vehicles, including LPG vehicles. We can also conduct pre-purchase inspections on secondhand cars before you buy, to ensure you’re getting the great deal you’re paying for without any hidden repair costs.

Brake Repairs

Your vehicle’s brakes are arguably your most important safety feature on the road. How well you have maintained your vehicle’s brakes can make the difference between an emergency stop and an inconvenient and expensive trip to the panel beaters.

We can restore your vehicle’s lost stopping power by replacing worn brake pads, discs and drums, as well as machining the surface of your brake discs for longer life and greater value for money.

Steering & Suspension

Many handling or ride comfort issues you experience on the road can be traced back to problems with your vehicle’s steering and suspension systems, whether it’s sagging suspension leading to excessive body roll or improperly aligned wheels affecting your vehicle’s grip on the road and accelerating your tyre wear.

We can replace worn car springs, shock absorbers and bushing to put some responsiveness back in your vehicle’s suspension, as well as provide wheel balancing to optimise your vehicle’s control on the road and minimise tyre wear.

Clutch & Transmission

The transmission is a piece of precise engineering, and faults here will quickly escalate into problems shifting or staying in gear, power loss, even potentially trouble getting moving at all. Early warning signs can include strange noises or smells from beneath the vehicle when in motion, amongst other issues.

At Modern Car Care we can service manual and automatic transmissions, with repairs and replacement transmission units for most makes and models as well as basic fluid changes as covered in our general servicing.

Radiators & Cooling Systems

An overheating engine can severely affect your vehicle’s performance and fuel efficiency, not to mention possibly result in a breakdown that leaves you and your vehicle stranded. If you think your vehicle might be overheating, give us a call to check your vehicle’s cooling system.

Our partners at Radiators-R-Us will check your vehicle’s cooling system for problems that might be hampering your vehicle, from pressure testing to check for leaks to coolant flushes to dislodge internal blockages. We can also replace your vehicle’s radiator unit, heater unit, and thermostat in more advanced cases.

Air Conditioning

Driving in Victoria’s warmer months can be unbearable without a properly functioning air conditioning system to keep your cabin cool. Contrary to popular assumption, however, it’s in the cooler months that your air con suffers most of its wear and tear, with the rubber hoses and seals cracking and leaking in the cold with disuse.

As an ARC certified workshop we can check your air conditioning system for leaks and replace fault air con units and hoses. We can also re-gas your system with the refrigerants it needs to keep your vehicle and passengers cool all summer long.
